Malta will be represented by a team of five young sailors at the Optimist World Championship, taking place from December 5 to 15, in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Under the expert guidance of Optimist coach Ivan Vasilev, the team has been rigorously preparing to represent Malta in this exciting international competition.
The Maltese team, consisting of Isaac Azzopardi, Liam Andrew Cutajar, Aleksandra Nagrudnaia from Birzebbugia Sailing Club, as well as Sebastian Miceli Demajo and Timothy De Cesare from Malta Young Sailors Club, have been training together for the past few months.
In addition to their sailing practice, they have participated in team-building activities to enhance their dynamics and teamwork skills.
The Maltese team will depart for Argentina on Friday, in preparation for the championship, which promises to be an exciting challenge for these young athletes.
In a statement the Malta Sailing Federation said their participation highlights Malta’s growing presence on the global sailing stage and serves as an inspiration to aspiring sailors across our island.
“We wish the team the best of luck as they take on this incredible opportunity,” the Malta Sailing Federation said.
“Fair winds to Team Malta!”
