Floriana FC have completed a major coup with the signing of former Ħamrun Spartans striker Elvis Mashike.
“We’re excited to announce the addition of Congolese forward Elvis Mashike to Floriana F.C! Elvis’s experience and versatility will bring quality to our growing squad,” Floriana FC said in a statement.
“Elvis has decided to return to Malta after a spell with FC Gostivar in Macedonia and we look forward to welcoming him to help our club.”
Mashike is a well-known face in Maltese football as the Congolese forward was part of the Ħamrun Spartans side that won the Premier League title in season 2022-23.
The Congolese forward enjoyed a very positive spell at the Spartans as apart from winning the league champions he also formed part of the side that reached the Play-off Round of the UEFA Conference League at the start of that season.
Since then, Mashike moved to Azerbaijan where he donned the colours of Araz-Nakhchivan but decided to part ways with the club this summer.
Mashike moved to Macedonia where he played for Gostivar and this season he managed to score three goals in 17 appearances.
At Floriana, Mashike will be forming a lethal attacking partnership with another former Ħamrun Spartans striker, Franklin Sasere, incidentally the player he had replaced at the Spartans.
Mashike will fill the void left by Malta forward Kemar Reid who earlier this week was sold to rivals Birkirkara FC.
The Congolese forward is expected to be registered in time to make his Floriana debut against Melita on Saturday.
