Gżira United have reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Cain Formosa, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper was looking for a new club after earlier this month he was released by Premier League side Sliema Wanderers.
Gżira United were looking to bring a new goalkeeper after earlier this week they lost the services of Serbian goalkeeper Marko Copic who decided to move elsewhere and secure more regular football.
Copic had only been at Gżira United since the end of December but the Serbian was not happy to play as an understudy to Italian custodian Giulio Mangano who was in goal for the last three league matches for the Maroons.
Copic’s departure prompted Gżira United to start the search for a new goalkeeper and immediately opened talks with Formosa.
An agreement between both parties was quicly reached and Formosa became a new Gżira United player.
For Formosa, Gżira United will be his third experience in the Premier League as apart from his spell at Sliema Wanderers, he was also on the books of Valletta.
Formosa can make his Gżira United this weekend when they face Melita.
