The 2025 season started during the weekend with the first two meetings of the year and which included 14 races all for trotters on a short distance of 2140m.
The two most important races were those reserved for class Premier trotters and which were won by Frappe Fort and Taiga Woodland.
Eleven trotters lined up in the first-class Premier race which was held on Saturday.
Frappe Fort (Jesmar Gafa’) led all the way and managed to triumph easily by three lengths from Onas Quintus (Rodney Gatt), Dragster De Bomo (Cliferty Calleja) and Marrakesh (Owen Borg). For Frappe Fort this was its first win in Malta.
The early leader of the second class Premier event. French newcomer Follow Me Flash (Rodney Gatt), ran out of steam midway through the final straight and was overtaken by another newcomer, Swedish Taiga Woodland (Cherise Farrugia).
Taiga Woodland registered its first win on the islands. Condior (Paul Galea) and French debutante El Presdiente (Charles Camilleri) followed home in that order.
