Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, suffered a second successive defeat after losing to Floriana last Sunday.
Mosta had three changes from the team which lost to Birkirkara as Konstantinos Lampsias, Salomo Ojala and Souleymane Kone were handed a start in the absence of the suspended Joao Teixeira with Joshua Agyemang while Stephen Gabriel Chiemezie was aong the substitutes.
Marsaxlokk coach Enzo Potenza, on the other hand, named an unchanged side.

Two minutes later, the Southseasiders managed to take the lead.

Two minutes in the second half, Akpan performed a good save on a powerful drive by Messias from outside the area.
On 53 minutes, Nikolai Muscat had another long-distance shot turned into a corner by the Mosta goalkeeper.
