Watch: Grillo clocks 6.87 at World Indoor Championships in China

Beppe Grillo clocked 6.87 seconds in the 60m heats at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, on Friday morning.

Racing in heat three of eight, Grillo lined up in lane five and got off to a strong start, maintaining a consistent rhythm throughout.

His time of 6.87 seconds was just 0.04 seconds off his personal best, which he had set a fortnight ago at the European Indoor Championships in the Netherlands.

Grillo finished fifth in his seven-man heat, ahead of Maldives’ Hassan Saaid (7.05) and Stanislaus Kostka of Micronesia (7.43). The heat was won by Rikkol Braithwaite of the British Virgin Islands in 6.64 seconds.

The Maltese sprinter is the country’s sole representative at these championships, which will conclude on Sunday.
