The athletics spotlight will once again shine on Malta as the seventh edition of the EAP Malta International takes place on Saturday at the Matthew Micallef St. John Athletics Stadium.
Recognised as a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger Meeting, the EAP Malta International has become one of the most prestigious athletics events organised in Malta and an important fixture on the World Athletics Global Calendar.
The meeting continues to attract athletes from around the world seeking valuable World Athletics ranking points and the opportunity to compete at a high international level.
Over the years, the EAP Malta International has earned a reputation for delivering quality competition, excellent organisation, and a welcoming environment for athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters. The event has contributed significantly to raising Malta’s profile within the international athletics community and promoting the country as a destination for international sport.
The 2026 edition is expected to feature athletes representing numerous nations across All Continents, creating a truly international atmosphere and providing local athletes with an opportunity to compete at an international level without the need to travel, and athletics enthusiasts with the opportunity to witness world-class performances on Maltese soil.
The meeting programme will include a wide range of track and field events, showcasing speed, endurance, strength, and technical excellence. Athletes will be competing not only for victory but also for crucial ranking points that contribute towards qualification pathways for major international championships.
“We are proud to host the seventh edition of the EAP Malta International and to continue building an event that is recognised internationally through its inclusion on the World Athletics Calendar and its status as a Continental Tour Challenger Meeting. This event represents an important opportunity for athletes to compete at a high level while also showcasing Malta’s ability to host international sporting events of the highest standard,” the organising committee said in a statement.
The EAP organisers extended their appreciation to all sponsors, partners, volunteers, technical officials, Sports Malta, Visit Malta, and the many stakeholders whose support makes the event possible.
