The 12th meeting of the season which was held on Sunday afternoon at the Marsa Racetrack included the Phone Refix Championship final for class Silver trotters on a short distance of 2140 metres.
This was won by French Gonzales and driven by Redent Magro.
Sunday’s card also included two semifinals from the BOV Tazza l-Kbira Championship for class Premier trotters on a long distance of 2640m.
Eleven trotters lined up for the class Silver final. It was Gonzales (Redent Magro) the fastest horse at first, opening a small lead from Lee Harvey Bros (Paul Galea) and Mojo Express driven by Swedish popular driver Bjorn Goop.
With 300 metres to go, Gonzales was still going strong and eventually managed to obtain its second win in a row and in Malta from Derby Chevaleraie (Charles Camilleri), Lee Harvey Bros and Miracle Of Heaven (Noel Baldacchino).
At the end of this final, Charles Zammit, on behalf of the sponsors, presented the winning trophy to Messrs Magro and to Redent Magro, the ownerss and driver respectively of the winning horse.
In the first class Premier semi-final, Swedish Isabelle Sisu (Nathaniel Barbara) sealed its fourth consecutive win and in Malta after leading all the way.
This mare passed the finishing post first by half length from Fuego Du Mortier (Claudio Refalo) and Dats So Cool (Jesmar Gafa’).
First Des Charrons (Noel Baldacchino) followed home in that order.
Galago Du Cadran (Paul Galea) was continuosly in front during the 2640 metres distance of the second class Premier semi final.
Galea’s trotter registered its second win in a row and in Malta from Velvet Gio (Rodney Gatt), Al Capone Stecca (Carl Caruana) and Extra Du Chatelet (Noel Baldacchino).
