Jesmond Caruana elected vice-president of the European Weightlifting Federation

Jesmond Caruana, president of the Malta Weightlifting Association, has been elected vice-president of the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) with the highest number of votes.

For Caruana, it’s another excellent achievement in his administrative career and will undoubtedly provide a major boost in the development of the sport in Malta.

Astrit Hasan was confirmed as the new president of the EWF, while Milan Mihajlovic retained his position as general secretary.

MWA member Dr Gayle Caruana was also elected as a member of the EWF Medical Committee.

Before the election, Caruana was honoured with the EWF Golden Star Award in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of weightlifting in Malta, as well as his outstanding service to regional and European weightlifting.

The elections were held in Chisinau, Moldova, in conjunction with the European Senior Championships.
