Ħamrun Spartans have decided to part ways with Brazilian winger Talison Barbosa and Croatian forward Mihael Klepac, the Times of Malta can reveal.
The newly crowned champions have already started preparing their squad for the new season, gearing up for their upcoming participation in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
The club’s administration are set to make some changes to their foreign players’ line-up and this week they have decided not to renew the contracts of both Talison and Klepac after both forwards helped the club to win the Premier League title for the 11th time in the club history.
Talison arrived at Ħamrun Spartans at the start of the season, and after a slow start to his career in Malta he started to show his true potential midway through the season, playing an important role in the Spartans’ Super Cup success against Sliema Wanderers in December.
However, Talison struggled to hold onto his regular place in the team in the final months of the season and played a bit-part role to the team.
On the other hand, Klepac joined the Spartans in the January transfer window.
The Croatian winger found it hard to play regular football at the Spartans and his adventure with the club has now come to an end.
The Spartans are expected to step up their search for new foreigners in the coming days as they look to arrive for the European commitments with a stronger squad than last season, as they bid to fulfil their dream of going far in the UEFA competitions this summer.
