18.24 In Athletics, Jordan Pace managed to set a new national record in the 400m hurdles, despite finishing fourth in his heat.
He clocked his race in 54.53s with the previous record being 54.66 set a few weeks by Benjamin Salnitro, who is in action now in the second heat.

This means that Malta has now set a new record of gold medals in a GSSE edition hosted outside our shores.

17.50 In Table Tennis, the Malta women’s team advanced to the semi-finals after beating both Cyprus and Montenegro in their group stage. The final four and gold medal showdown are pencilled for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the men’s selection defeated Montenegro and Cyprus, and will face Iceland very soon as they are also on the brink to secure a final four spot.
17.40 In the Mountain Bike event, the Maltese riders found the going tough.
Luke Borg, Clyve Chetcuti, and Mark Bonnici struggled to push themselves in contention against a world-class field that featured riders who featured in the Olympics last summer.
All three Maltese riders failed to finish the race as they were lapped by the race pace-setters with Liechtenstein’s Roman Puentener, who last summer raced for his country at the Paris Olympics, taking gold in 1:24:18 ahead of Cypriot Andreas Miltiadis (1:25:29) and Liechtenstein’s Felix Sprenger (1:26.01).

17.35 Right now, we are following the action from Swimming with Malta missing out on medals in the first two finals, ending fourth in both races. More races to follow soon.
17.33 Still Tennis, with Francesca Curmi and Elaine Genovese progressing to the final of the women’s doubles tournament.
The defending champions defeated Andorra’s pair 6-2 6-4 as they have now secured at least a silver medal.
They will face either Luxembourg or Cyprus in the final.

17.18 We start with Tennis, and Alex de Gabriele is through to the semi-finals of the men’s singles competition after a solid 7-6, 6-2 victory over Luxembourg player Raphael Calzi.
In tomorrow’s semi-final, he will face Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot. Nine days ago, Vacherot was eliminated in the French Open qualifications after losing to Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili in two sets.
