21.12 A final decision on Malta’s protest will not be taken tonight and we will have to wait until tomorrow to see if our duo will be awarded silver or bronze.
And with that we come to a close our coverage and invite to join us for the final day of competition tomorrow morning.
20.50 We are still awaiting the result of the protest, as the Maltese officials are still contesting the final result.
20.30 There is confusion at the moment as the announcer and the screen showing the final points ranked Malta in third place, when in reality Buttigieg and Culic gained points to take silver and bronze. So we are awaiting to see what is going to happen as the Maltese clan have lodged a protest.
20.15 A second medal is assured for the artistic duo of Buttigieg and Culic as they remain second in the standings with one team to go.
20.03 Zoe Palau Alcaide and Jasmine Serrano Steksova soar to top spot in the duet technical routine and leave Malta in second place.

Iacob forfeited the match in the first game of the fourth set, where was she losing 9-4 after picking up an apparent arm injury.
This means Malta has now earned a 15th silver medal in these Games.

14.00 In Table Tennis, Luxembourg take a 1-0 lead in the first match of the the women’s Team event final as Renata Strbikova lost the opening set 12-10.
The first team to win three sets, wins the game and take a point.
13.30 In Gymnastics, Alyona Draguzya and Lauren Agius finished 13th and 14th respectively in the Ball event. Now, they are in action in the Clubs event.
In the meantime, we are waiting for the women’s table tennis team to take on Luxembourg in the Team final. A silver is guaranteed… but we want the gold, don’t we?
12.57 De Gabriele bows out from the men’s Tennis Singles tournament, losing the second set to Vacherot 6-2.
The Maltese athlete finishes third and collects a bronze medal.
12.50 Meanwhile, Alex De Gabriele lost the first set in the men’s Tennis Singles semi-final, 6-4 to French Open qualifier Valentin Vacherot.
12.45 In Gymnastics, Alyona Draguzya completed her routine in the Ball and received a score 20.000 to move up to sixth just above Lauren Agius
12.30 Unfortunately, Francesca Curmi is eliminated from the Tennis Singles after falling to a 6-2 defeat in the third and final set against Luxembourg’s Maria Weckerle.
This means she will finish third in this tournament, earning a bronze for Malta – the 13th bronze and medal number 36 overall.
Curmi is expected to return in action soon when she will team up with Elaine Genovese in the Doubles final.
12.12 Lauren Agius competed in the ball routine and scored 19.200. Below is her performance which has temporarily put her in third place. Below is her routine.

11.40 Not great news from Tennis as Francesca Curmi seems to be struggling physically. She lost the second set 6-1 and has now asked for a toilet break. Hopefully she will regroup… fingers crossed.

11.10 Francesca Curmi won the opening set of her semi-final of the women’s singles against Marie Wekerle, of Luxembourg, 6-3.
She is now a set away from booking a place in her second final at the 2025 GSSE after reaching the doubles showdown with Elaine Genovese.
11.04 The Rhytmic Gymnastics programme is under way and Malta is being represented by two athletes.
Alyona Draguzya will compete in the qualifiers of the Hoop competition that are already under way and will also be in action in Ball and Clubs.
Lauren Agius will be competing in Ball, Clubs and Ribbons qualifiers.
10.40 The Malta women’s table-tennis team are through to the final after defeating San Marino 3-1. Below is the match-winning point won by Carmelia Iacob against Chiara Morri. They are facing Luxembourg for the gold medal.
10.32 Things are looking rosy in table tennis as Iacop is two sets up against Morri, needing just one set to seal the team’s passage to the final.
However, Renata Strbikova pulled Malta level when defeating Chiara Morri 3-0.
Now, Strbikova and Iacob will team up for the Doubles against Chimei and Morri.
10.25 The women’s table tennis team are just win away from the final as Strbikova and Iacop beat Chimei and Morri 3-1 to move 2-1 ahead and one win away from the gold medal final against either Luxembourg or Cyprus.
10.14 Strbikova and Iacop were level with Chimei and Morri in the doubles at 1-1 but now have turned it round when winning the third set and are leading 2-1.
10.17 Swimming competitions have already got under way with Michela Portelli coming a whisper away from winning a bronze medal in the women’s 50 metres fly when she touched home in 28.74 seconds. The gold medal went to Kalia Antoniou, of Cyprus, in a time of 26.80.
10.00 We start with the Table Tennis as the women’s national team is in action in the semi-finals of the Teams competition. At the moment, Malta and San Marino are level as Maria Carmelia Iacob was beaten by San Marino’s Chinese-born player Yan Chimei 3-2.,
09.45 Good morning everyone and welcome to the fourth day of the 2025 GSSE. After a positive Thursday, where Malta reached their goal of winning a ninth gold medal, the focus will turn today to continue increasing on the 35-medal haul achieved so far.
