€240,000 was distributed among clubs as dividends
The Malta Premier League announced that it recorded an income of just over half a million euros during the 2024-25 season.
The top-tier clubs association made this announcement at the end of its Annual General Meeting on Monday.
The past campaign saw the Malta Premier League officially assume the management of the Malta Premier, operating in a joint venture with the Malta Football Association (MFA).
According to the financial results announced during the meeting, this first campaign turned out to be a very positive one for the 12 clubs forming the Premier League.
The statement added that more than half of the €500,000 of income was registered as profit with €240,000 distributed among the clubs as dividends.
“The Malta Premier League (MPL), the association that unites all clubs competing in the top tier of Maltese football, reported an income of just over €500,000 for the past season,” the MPL said in a statement.
“More than half of this amount was registered as profit, with €240,000 distributed among the clubs as dividends. This is in addition to other financial support received by the clubs through UEFA solidarity funds.”
The MPL also announced that following preliminary analysis, there was a 15 per cent increase in match attendances compared to the previous season.
“A preliminary analysis indicates a 15% increase in match attendances compared to the previous season, a clear sign of growing public interest,” it said.
“This comparison was made on a like-for-like basis covering 182 matches. For the first time, the Malta Premier League championship was organised at a profit.
“While the regular season closed with a marginal loss, the Final Four phase generated enough revenue to turn the overall outcome into a positive financial result.”
