The 27th and the 28th meeting of the season were held during the weekend at the Marsa Racetrack. These included the ALDB Sette Giugno Cup final for class Premier trotters and the Prix De Vincennes final for French trotters also from class Premier. Both finals were held on a short distance of 2140 metres and were won by Al Capone Stecca and Follow Me Flash.
Only ten trotters lined up for the Sette Giugno Cup final.
Al Capone Stecca (Carl Caruana) increased its speed in the final 500 metres and managed to secure its second win of the season easily by five lengths from Velvet Gio (Rodney Gatt) and Hi D. (Jesmar Gafa’). The early leader, Mulberry (Charles Camilleri), ended in fourth place. The winner clocked a good average time of 1.12.4” per kilometre.
In the Prix De Vincennes final, French veteran Crack Money (Charles Camilleri) took the lead 400 metres from the fininshing line. However this French trotter was overtaken by Follow Me Flash (Rodney Gatt) when the front horses turned for their final straight.
Follow Me Flash registered its second win in a row and in Malta by half length from Extra Du Chatelet (Ludvic Ghigo) and Crack Money. Eden De L’Iton (Dylan Baldacchino) had to settle for fourth place from Fee Lucernaise (Salvu Vella). Follow Me Flash clocked an average time of 1.13.1” per kilometre.
It should be noted that on Sunday Rodney Gatt managed to win four races and apart from the final with Follow Me Flash he also managed to win the Prix D’Enghien class Gold final with Far West De Chenu.
The 2025 season will resume in October.
