Roko Prsa, Elionay Freitas, and Raphael Lopes Silva will not be wearing the colours of Ħamrun Spartans next season as the Malta champions did not retain them.
Ħamrun Spartans president Joseph Portelli delivered the news during the club’s annual general meeting, held on Thursday.
Prsa and Elionay Freitas have been key elements in the Ħamrun Spartans’ midfield during the past few years, helping the club establish themselves as the top side in the country but their contracts expired at the end of the campaign.
Croatian midfielder Prsa has been at Ħamrun Spartans for the past three seasons and was an inspirational figure to not only help the club win three successive league titles but also formed part of the team that reached a historic Play-off Round in the UEFA Conference League in 2022.
In total, Prsa has made 94 appearances for Ħamrun Spartans, scoring 12 goals and providing 20 assists.
On the other hand, Freitas arrived at Ħamrun Spartans in the summer of 2023 and was an integral figure in the team that won back-to-back titles during the past two years, with his indefatigable performances in midfield.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder made 72 appearances with Ħamrun Spartans, netting four goals and providing three assists.
Freitas’ fellow compatriot, Raphael Lopes Silva, arrived at Ħamrun Spartans at the start of last season.
After a difficult start with the Spartans, where he struggled to acclimatise to the demands of Maltese football, he slowly started to find his feet, scoring some crucial goals that helped the Reds go on and win the Super Cup and the Premier League title.
In all, Lopes Silva made 39 appearances and scored 16 goals.
The Brazilian forward still has a year left on his contract, but the Spartans are considering an offer they received for the player and a deal could be reached in the next few days.
