Former Melita defender Van de Bovenkamp heads to Gżira United

Gżira United have announced the signing of Spanish defender Marc Van de Bovenkamp.

“Marc Van de Bovenkamp is a Maroon,” Gżira United said in a statement.

“Spanish left defender Marc Van de Bovenkamp signed a one-year contract with our Club. The 26-year-old last season played for Melita, and previously he always played in Spain.

“Welcome to our Club Marc. Good Luck!”

The 26-year-old was on the books of Melita last season but will now continue his experience in Maltese football with Gżira United.

At his new club, Van de Bovenkamp will reunite with his former coach at Melita, Clive Mizzi, who has now been appointed as Gżira United head coach, but also with Spanish midfielder Santiago Martinez, and David Xuereb who have also agreed to join the Maroons.  

 Gżira United have been working hard in the past weeks to bolster their squad and they have also brought back to the club prolific goalscorer Maxuell Maia as well as Costa Rica defender Pablo Fonseca and Colombian midfielder Jork Becerra.
