Birkirkara have announced a major transfer coup with the signing of forward Jan Busuttil.
The 26-year-old is coming through a turbulent 2024-25 season, which saw him leave Floriana and join Balzan, where he could do nothing to prevent his club from ending up relegated to the Challenge League.
Busuttil is now hopeful that he can revive his career with his move to Birkirkara.
“Birkirkara FC is pleased to announce the signing of Jan Busuttil,” Birkirkara said in a statement.
“The 26-year-old Maltese attacker, capable of playing in various roles across the frontline, adds further strength and depth to our attacking department.
“Having represented Malta at every youth level as well as the senior national team, Jan brings valuable experience and flair. Formerly of Pietà, Floriana, and most recently Balzan, he is widely known for his technical ability and dribbling skills.”
On his part, Busuttil said that he is raring to start the season at Birkirkara FC.
“I am very happy to sign for Birkirkara FC,” Busuttil said.
“Can’t wait for the season to start with this great group. I am optimistic that we can achieve great things together. Ready to start this new journey!”
The arrival of Busuttil capped a positive day for Birkirkara, who announced the renewal of five key players from last season.
Jonathan Makoma, Pablo Gaitan, Luis Cordova, Manuel Morello, and Leandro Lacunza have all pledged their future with the club after signing new contracts.
The Stripes are currently working hard on bringing in new overseas players as they look to provide coach Stefano De Angelis a more competitive squad than last season, where they finished as runners-up in both the Malta Premier League and the FA Trophy.
