Newly-promoted Tarxien Rainbows welcome back goalkeeper Andrea Cassar

Andrea Cassar was on the books of Sirens last season.

Tarxien Rainbows have strengthened their squad with the return of experienced goalkeeper Andrea Cassar as they gear up for their first season back in the Malta Premier after a four-year absence.

Now aged 32, Cassar previously spent four seasons with the Rainbows between 2015 and 2019, making 86 appearances. Throughout his career, he has also featured for Ħamrun Spartans, Pembroke Athleta, Floriana, Marsa, and Sirens.

The Rainbows will be led by coach Jacques Scerri as they look to make their mark in the top flight once again.

In addition to Cassar, the club has been active in the transfer market. They have signed Malta U21s goalkeeper Miguel Spiteri, former U21s defender Andreas Vella, and Luke Borg and William England, both arriving from Luxol St. Andrews. Defender Kyle Gatt also returns to the club, having previously been on their books.

Moreover, according to a report in Maltese media, the Rainbows have also completed the signing of former Balzan midfielder Marcus Grima.

Meanwhile, Miguel D’Alessandro, Sheldon Mizzi, and Matthew Tabone have committed their futures to Tarxien Rainbows by renewing their contracts.
