The third meeting of the season, which was held on Sunday at the Marsa Racetrack, heralded the start of the first championship of the year, the Assikura Championship for class Gold trotters.
The five heats from this competition were held on a short distance of 2140 metres. From these heats, 30 trotters made it to the semifinal stage.
These heats were won by Carbonfiber (Cherise Farrugia) and Hiant Du Val (Rodney Gatt) which obtained their first win of the year, Hana AM (Justin Attard) which sealed its second win in a row, by Cruise (Paul Galea) which increased its speed in the final metres and by Gold From Heaven (Paul Galea) which also obtained its first win of the season.
It should be noted that Hana AM clocked the best average time of the day, that of 1.14.5” per kilometre.
Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held on Sunday. The first race should start at 12.45pm.
