Sliema Wanderers kick-started a new era on Thursday when Walter Arciola was elected as the new president of the Premier League club.
Arciola was given a vote of confidence by the club members during the Annual General Meeting.
He will replace Keith Perry, who decided not to extend his stay at the helm of the club last month.
“We are delighted to announce Walter Arciola as the new President of Sliema Wanderers FC, alongside Andrea Zammit Tabona as Vice President and Alex Muscat as Club Secretary,” Sliema Wanderers said in a statement.
“We also warmly welcome the newly appointed Committee as we embark on an exciting new chapter for our club.
“With renewed ambition and a shared vision for the future, we look forward to building on our proud history and driving Sliema Wanderers FC forward.
“We wish President Walter Arciola, the Committee, and all club officials every success in their new roles.”
Arciola and the Wanderers’ new committee will be working hard in the coming weeks to bolster their squad, and their first appointment is set to be that of a new head coach following the departure of Pablo Doffo.
Times of Malta reported last month that Serbian coach Branko Nisevic is set to be handed the role after the former Hibernians mentor had agreed terms with the Blues.
It is understood that in the past week, the Wanderers were scouring the transfer market to bring in reinforcements after a very disappointing 2025-26 season.
Despite a strong transfer campaign last summer, the Blues failed to win any of the major domestic honours and also missed out on a place in European football.
