Gaia Lucaxelo and Jacovia Madrik win first French finals, four wins for Paul Galea

The 32nd meeting of the season consisting of eight races all for trotters was held on Sunday evening at the Marsa Racetrack.

Certainly the two most important races were the Prix De Cabourg Final for class Silver trotters and the Prix De Caen final for class Copper trotters.

Both finals were held on a short distance of 2140 metres and were won respectively by the mares Jacovia Madrik and Gaia Lucaxelo respectively. Paul Galea ended the best driver with four wins.  

Eleven trotters lined up for the class Silver final. The early leader of this final, Heathrow (Charles Camilleri), was outsmarted by Jacovia Madrik (Cherise Farrugia) exactly on the finishing line.

Impact Sur Laterre (Mario Fenech) ended in third place in front of Iniesta Sport (Andrew Farrugia) and Invincible De Bry (Noel Baldacchino). For Jacovia Madrik this was its third consecutive win.

In the class Copper final, favourite Gaia Lucaxelo (Paul Galea) was unchallenged during the 2140 metres distance and secured its third win in a row easily by a length from Givre Nonantais (Cherise Farrugia) and Himitri Star (Jonathan Spiteri).

Let’s Move On (Tony Demanuele) ended in fourth place from Kiri Farceur (Jesmar Gafa’).

Sunday’s card included also a normal class Premier race on the mile distance. Danish Fetter Tir (Jonathan J. Farrugia) registered its first win in Malta after leading all the way.
