Nathaniel Jones was elected as the new president of Futsal Malta during the governing body’s annual general meeting held earlier this week.
Jones replaces Mark Borg, who decided not to re-contest his position.
In his first address as president, Jones thanked the clubs for the trust and confidence they had placed in him to lead the association into its next chapter.
He also expressed his appreciation to the newly elected committee members for their commitment to the continued development of futsal in Malta.
Jones reserved special thanks for Mark Borg, Kurt Rizzo, Matthew Borg, Stefan Cutajar and Anthony Azzopardi for their valuable contribution as members of the outgoing committee and wished them every success in their future endeavours.
The new committee will be formed by George Frendo (vice-president operations), Kurt Bonnici (vice-president branding and marketing), secretary general Andy Mangion, and treasurer Clayton Scicluna. They were handed a three-year term.
The amendments, proposed by the association, were aimed at strengthening the governance framework of the Futsal Malta Association and ensuring greater compliance with the regulations of the Malta Football Association (MFA) as well as the requirements and guidelines of the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS).
During the meetings, members were presented with the administrative report outlining the association’s activities and achievements over the past year. Several initiatives and development projects were highlighted, demonstrating the continued growth of futsal in Malta.
The financial report was also presented, confirming that the association concluded another successful financial year.
In his final address as president of the Futsal Malta Association, Mark Borg thanked everyone who contributed towards the development and success of futsal in Malta throughout his tenure.
He highlighted a number of significant milestones achieved during his leadership, including the establishment of the women’s futsal league, the introduction of Video Support for referees, and the first steps towards securing new premises in collaboration with the MFA and the Central Government.
