Navaj Brodda and Eagle B Butcher won last weekend’s major events at the Marsa Racetrack. These were races reserved for class Premier trotters on a short distance of 2140m and formed part of the 24th meeting of the season made up of ten races all for trotters.
Twelve trotters lined up for the first class Premier race. Buzz Sly (Michael Ellul) which took the lead midway through the distance started to slow down around 300m from the finishing line.
This horse was overtaken by Navaj Brodda (Charles Camilleri) which gained its second win in a row and its third of the year from Avrik De Guez (Carmelo Farrugia), Vendecor (Mario Fenech) and Up And Go (Noel Baldacchino)
In the second major event, Dutch Eagle B Butcher (Clifferty Calleja) dashed strongly from the outside when the front horses turned for their final straight.
Calleja’s trotter managed to secure its second win of the year from French newcomer As De Godisson (Mario Fenech), Vent Du Der (Charles Degiorgio) and Atout De Montbrun (Rodney Gatt).
