Jake Bonavia to join Montenegro side Primorac for second successive year

San Ġiljan ASC youngster Jake Bonavia is the latest upcoming player that is set to spend the coming months in Montenegro after he agreed to join Primorac.

For Bonavia this will be his second successive year at the Montenegrin side and no doubt it will be another great opportunity for him to continue to develop his undoubted talent.

Last season, Bonavia was mentored by former Croatian great Sandro Sukno who has now left the club to join European champions Pro Recco, who were recently in Malta for a training camp.

“San Ġiljan ASC player Jake Bonavia will be joining Primorac, in the picturesque city of Kotor, Montenegro for a second successive year,” San Ġiljan ASC said in a statement.

“Jake was coached by Sandro Sukno during his first time at the club, who now moved to Pro Recco. This year the club appointed Mr Ranko Perovic as head coach, who is a former coach of the national team of Montenegro.

“During this season, Jake will be aiming to feature in the official games during his overseas stay.

“The club currently trains in the swimming pool of Budva which is a 30 minute drive from Kotor, but in November, Primorac should be inauguratiing their new pool which should facilitate training sessions for the team and Jake Bonavia.”

San Ġiljan ASC said in the statement that Jake Bonavia showed his gratitude to his club San Ġiljan ASC for making this move happen as well as Mladen Janovic, president of Primoract and Karl Izzo, the Malta national team coach.

“Jake, a San Ġiljan homegrown player with whom he won several junior leagues, featured prominently for the club in the last two seasons where San Ġiljan, under the coaching of Dorian Pisani, won the league and cup double in 2020 and the KO competition this summer.”
