Antoine Du Bourg triumphs in Sette Giugno Cup final

Driven by Redent Magro, Antoine Du Bourg won Tuesday’s evening major event at the Marsa Racetrack.

This was the AME Sette Giugno Cup final for class Premier trotters on a short distance of 2140m. This final formed part of the 31st meeting of the season consisting of ten races all for trotters.

Eleven trotters lined up for the class Premier final. Jefferson Dotcom (Rodney Gatt) was the fastest horse at first and during the first metres opened a small lead from Kaptah (Michael Ellul) and Rally Hans (Marco Refalo).

However, with a lap to go, Antoine Du Bourg (Redent Magro) started to increase its speed from the outside.

Later on, Jefferson Dotcom started to slow down when the front horses turned for their final straight and eventually was overtaken by Antoine Du Bourg which past the finishing post first easily by a length.

Magro’s trotter sealed its fourth win of the season from Rally Hans and Gigant Well (Charles Degiorgio).

Kaptah (Michael Ellul) followed home in that order. Antoine Du Bourg clocked an average time of 1.13.5” per kilometer.

At the end of this final, Mario Camilleri, on behalf of the sponsors, presented the winning trophy to Peter Agius and Redent Magro, the owner and driver respectively of the winning horse. This in the presence of Dr Matthew Brincat, CEO of the company Marsa Racetrack Limited which administer the Marsa complex.
