Luxol register hard-earned win against Swieqi

Luxol beat Swieqi United in a clash of the titans over the weekend.

Luxol St Andrew’s started their title defence in the best way possible after beating Swieqi United Futsal 3-1 this past weekend.

It was not an easy game for Gabriel Dobre’s boys who, after establishing a two-goal advantage, saw Swieqi reacting swiftly in the second half as after scoring the consolation goal, they started to attack and were unlucky not to take at least one point from this clash.

Eventually, towards the end of the game, Luxol scored to secure the three points.

Mark Zammit scored a brace for the team from St Andrew’s while new signing Jefferson Breno added another for his team.

Andrew Abela kept some hope for Swieqi United after scoring a good goal.

Meanwhile, University of Malta ACJ Group had a comfortable 11-2 victory against Marsaskala Futsal.

Steven Camilleri and Guilherme Fonseca were the main protagonists for the Universitarians when they scored a poker each while Kaue Meggiato, Melvin Borg, and Dale Valletta also put their names down among the scorers.

Marsaskala scored two goals from Owen Duca and an own goal from Guilherme Fonseca.

Ta Xbiex Futsal started their commitments in a positive way after a great score of 14-1 against Gzira United Santa Margherita.

Ta Xbiex had George Frendo notching four goals with Glenn Bonello scoring a hat-trick. Bernardo Rosa, Stefi Cale, and Christian Wismayer found the net twice each with Matthias Camilleri sealing the final victory for his team.

Ayrton Duncan scored the only goal for the Maroons.

ZRQ Bormla had a strong start to the season after beating the Malta Under-19 team 10-0.

Karl Luke Schembri, Darko Ristic, Jovica Milijic, and Karl Sciortino were authors of two goals each with Matthew Scicluna and Claudio Venuto also being among the scorers.

Birżebbuġa St Peter’s had a positive return in the local futsal competitions with a 5-1 victory against the Maltese national under-18 team.

Julien Bollard scored two goals while Antonello Demanuele, Isaac Ciranna, and David Jimenez put their names down among the scorers.

Xylon Mercieca scored the consolation goal for the Under-18s.

Sliema Wanderers registered a mammoth 21-1 scoreline against Santa Venera Lightnings. Kevin Sammut, Wallace Oliveira, Benjamin Battistino, Nigel Zammit, Dylan Attard, Giuseppe Barone, Andrea Rufa, Thiago Rodriguez, and Jean Lopez were among the scorers for the Blues.
