Last weekend, the Malta Drag Racing Association hosted the first round of the Drag Racing National Championship at their raceway in Ħal Far.
The three days of competition were packed with action involving most of the best Maltese drag racing teams and their cars.
Matthew Attard won the bracket for 13 to 13.49 seconds, Neil Caruana topped the bracket for 11.50 to 11.99 seconds, Paul Pace placed first in the bracket for 11 to 11.49 seconds, Michael Caruana prevailed in the bracket for 9.5 to 9.99 seconds, and Karl Mifsud emerged victorious in the bracket between 8.50 and 8.99 seconds.
Simon Giordmaina won the SS1 Motorcycle Class, and the Motorcycle Open Class, Luke Farrugia topped the All Motor Motorcycle, and Stuart Crane placed first in the Top Fuel Motorcycle Class.
Neil Vella and George Cutajar won the FWD 10.0 and 9.0 Class, respectively, while Anthony Vella secured the win in the CA6 Class.
Ruben Scicluna and Mario Borg won the D4 and D6 classes, respectively, while Alan Muscat prevailed in the DTA6 Class.
Justin Muscat, Lewis Vella and John Martin won respectively the Extreme 2 Class, the Open 5 Class, and the Wild Street Class.
Clifton Abdilla topped the Open 6 Class, and Mariano Ciantar and Rosello Cassar placed first in the Escort Class 2 and Escort Class 3, respectively.
Zeldon Fenech won the Junior Dragster Class, and Luke Farrugia had the best reaction time in the first round of the 2024 drag racing championship.
A charity event called MDRA for Charity in aid of the Malta Autism Centre will be held at Hal Far Raceway on April 7, followed by a Run What You Bring on April 20.
The second round of the National Drag Racing Championship is scheduled for May 3, 4, and 5.
All events will be open to the public.
