Jacob Micallef shines in the Champions of the Future Academy racing series

Maltese karting sensation Jacob Micallef bagged his fourth podium in the Champions of the Future Academy in the Italian city of Jesolo last weekend.

On the opening day of racing held on Saturday, Micallef managed to finish in second place.

But it was on Sunday that Micallef really showed his undoubted potential, placing first in the OK-N Junior Class, outperforming 36 other drivers from around the world.

Jacob Micallef is currently occupying the 22nd place in the FIA International karting classification out of 822 drivers.

Two other Maltese karting drivers were competing in Jesolo, namely Benjamin Westwood and Benjamin Borg Irima.

Westwood competed in the same class as Micallef and finished in seventh position, but a five-second penalty dropped him to 15th place.

Borg Irima competed in the OK-N Senior, and after a good start and moving up to position eight, he was flagged out for safety reasons due to an accident caused by another driver, which ultimately led to the disqualification of the other driver.
