Willard promoted as Balzan head coach and academy technical director

Balzan FC announced that Daryl Willard has been promoted to head coach of the first team and will also serve as technical director of the Balzan Academy.

Willard has been at the helm of Balzan’s senior team on a caretaker basis for several weeks now following the departure of coach Dave Rogers but the Englishman has managed to steer the sheep at the club and has now been handed the job on a permanent basis.

Former player Bojan Kaljevic was installed as Willard’s assistant as well as the right hand man of Ramon Zammit, the new Balzan U-21 coach.

“Balzan FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Daryl Willard as Head Coach of the Balzan first team and Technical Director of the Balzan Academy,” the club said in a statement.

“Balzan FC is also pleased to welcome Bojan Kaljevic as Assistant Head Coach for both the first team and the Under-21 team.

“In addition to supporting Daryl Willard in his duties, Bojan brings a wealth of experience as Balzan’s all-time leading scorer and a long-standing player at the club.

“The club also confirms that Ramon Zammit was also appointed as the Under-21 Coach, and he will also continue as Head of the Competitive Age Groups at the Balzan Academy.

“Meanwhile, Etienne Vella will carry on his excellent work overseeing the non-competitive age groups at the Academy, ensuring continuity and progress.”

On his part, club president Anton Tagliaferro is confident the changes in the technical set-up will be beneficial to help the club enjoy a stronger second part of the season.

“It’s been a challenging start to the season due to some unforeseen circumstances, but I am very pleased to announce these coaching appointments, which establish a clear structure moving forward,” he said.

“I am confident that, by continuing to work well together, we will achieve our goal of a much stronger second half of the season.

“Balzan FC looks forward to building on these developments and remains committed to achieving success both on and off the pitch.”
