Brian Cini is through to the World Amateur Snooker Championships after securing back-to-back victories on Friday in Morocco.
It was an impressive performance from the Maltese cueist who managed not to drop a frame in both matches and will now vie for the prestigious title against China’s Gao Yang on Saturday afternoon.
In the quarter-final stage, Cini was in brilliant form when he eased past German player Umit Dikme 4-0.
Cini was in control right from the outset as he never allowed his German player to settle down in the match.
The Maltese player raced to victory in no time as he compiled breaks of 72, 84 and 74 to wrap up an impressive 4-0 victory.
In the afternoon session, Cini kept up the momentum and this time he outclassed Polish player Mateusz Baranowski 4-0.
Cini took the opening frame 61-32 and then wrapped up the second 66-1.
In the third frame, Baranowski tried to fight back and led 56-0, however, he could not kill off his opponent as Cini pounced on his opponent’s mistake to compile a break of 66 to move 3-0.
Cini wrapped up victory in the fourth frame when winning it 59-24.
In Saturday’s final, Cini will be up against Chinese player Gao Yang.
