MRTL Championship gets underway with six heats

The MRTL Championship for class Bronze trotters started on Sunday afternoon with six heats on a short distance of 2140m.

These formed part of the fourth meeting of the season consisting of eleven races all for trotters. From the six class Bronze heats, 24 horses made it to the semi final stage.

In the first class Bronze heat, Swedish Professor (Jason Vassallo) led all the way and won easily by a length and a half from Power Tooma (Cherise Farrugia) and Idillico Sarr (Joseph Scerri). Express Novo (Ian Galea) ended in fourth place.

Similar was the second heat from the same championship with My Love M.L. (Mario Farrugia) being unchallenged during the 2140 metres distance.

Oh Ah Kennedy (Dylan Baldacchino), Figaro Du Fan (Noel Baldacchino) and Ikarus Fligny (Rodney Gatt) followed home in that order.

French newcomer Java D’Urzy (Paul Galea) took its first win in Malta in the third class Bronze heat.

This French mare increased its speed in the final straight and triumphed from another French debutante Gone De Sofia (Ramon Briffa) and Jolie Jide (Andrew Farrugia). Cuenca (Carmelo Farrugia) also made it to the next stage.
