The Karate National League, held under the auspices of the World Karate Federation, took place last weekend at the De La Salle College, Vittoriosa.

The event saw an impressive turnout of 260 athletes, ranging in age from seven to 55 years, all demonstrating remarkable skill, discipline, and commitment to the sport.

Throughout the league, athletes competed with great determination, showcasing not only their technical abilities but also their perseverance and sportsmanship.

The event provided a platform for both seasoned competitors and young talents to test their skills at a national level, reflecting the continuous growth and development of karate in Malta.

In addition to the competitions, a referees’ practical test was conducted, further highlighting the dedication and commitment of officials to maintaining the highest standards of the sport.

Their hard work ensures fairness and professionalism in every match, reinforcing the values that karate instills in its practitioners.

Parents and supporters played a crucial role in creating an encouraging and dynamic atmosphere.

Their presence and enthusiasm underscored the importance of community in fostering young athletes and inspiring them to push their limits.

The federation places particular emphasis on maintaining a high level of technical excellence and professionalism, ensuring that Maltese karate continues to thrive in line with international standards.

Events such as this league not only celebrate athletic achievement but also reinforce the discipline and respect at the heart of karate.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to the Maltese Olympic Committee and SportMalta for their unwavering support. Their dedication to the development of sports in Malta is invaluable, and their commitment continues to provide athletes with opportunities to excel on both national and international stages,” said Kenneth Abela, president of the Malta Karate Federation.
