The 34th and the 35th meeting of the season which included eighteen races all for trotters were held during the weekend at the Marsa Racetrack.
These meetings included the semi-finals from various championships for French trotters on a long distance of 2640 metres.
The two main events, the Prix De Vincennes semi-finals for class Premier trotters were won by Gaspar D’Angis and Farmer Keryvon.
From the two class Premier semi-finals, 12 trotters made it to the final stage.
In the first semi-final, favourite Gaspar D’Angis (Charles Camilleri) took its second win in a row and in Malta after leading all the way.
Camilleri’s trotter sped past the finishing post first, easily by six lengths from Eldorado De Ver (Noel Baldacchino), Gepetto De Godrel (Alex Cortis), and Galago Du Cadran (Paul Galea).
Formi (Joe Schembri) and Excellent Day (Raymond Schembri) also made it to the final stage. The winner clocked an average time of 1.12.8” per kilometer which is a new national record on this distance.
In the second semi-final, veteran and early leader Crack Money (Charles Camilleri) started to slow down when the front horses turned for their final straight Crack Money was overtaken by Farmer Keryvon (Rodney Gatt), which sealed its first win in Malta from Forban (Cherise Farrugia).
Crack Money had to settle for third place from Fakir De Gesvres (Carl Caruana), Eden De L’Iton (Dylan Baldacchino) and Harcouel (A. Cassar).
Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held on Sunday. The first race should start at 1pm.
