Driven by Daniel Hili, Italian newcomer DJ Spritz won Sunday’s major event at the Marsa Racetrack.
This was a class Premier race held on a short distance of 2140 metres and formed part of the 36th meeting of the season consisting of nine races all for trotters.
Twelve trotters took part in the class Premier race. DJ Spritz (Daniel Hili) was the fastest horse at first, opening a small lead from Mulberry (Charles Camilleri) and Rampant (Charles Degiorgio).
Hili’s trotter led all the way and past the finishing post first by half length from Mulberry and Awesome Kronos (Noel Baldacchino). Akela Play (Clint Vassallo) followed home in that order.
This was Daniel Hili’s second win of the day.
Sunday’s card included also two class Gold races on the same distance.
In the first class Gold race, She’s A Lady (Jesmar Gafa’) obtained its third win in a row and in Malta after increasing its pace during the last 400 metres. Patrick Silvio (Paul Galea) also registered its third consecutive win and on the islands in the second class Gold race after taking the lead with a lap to go.
