Birżebbuġa Sailing Club Freeport, in collaboration with Yachting Malta, will host the sixth edition of its International Regatta from Saturday till February 10.
Since its inaugural event in 2021, the Yachting Malta BSC International Regatta has established itself as a premier winter fixture on the Mediterranean sailing calendar.
This year’s entry list features a notable international presence, with representation from the USA, Argentina, Ireland, Sweden, Hungary, Lithuania, and Bulgaria.
These athletes will compete alongside a large local fleet representing all Maltese sailing clubs, bringing the total number of sailors to well over 100 sailors.
The event is organised with the support of Yachting Malta as its main sponsor, together with Visit Malta, and is further backed by the Birżebbuġa Local Council, SportMalta, and RLR Yachting Malta.
The race courses will be set within Marsaxlokk Bay and the surrounding coastal waters, known for providing some of the most technical racing conditions in Malta.
A maximum of 12 races scheduled over four days makes this a very important event for National team selection for the upcoming World and European championships and the upcoming Mediterranean Games, later on this year.
The varied conditions expected over the four days will set the stage for an exciting event
