University of Malta, Luxol St Andrews secure wins in play-off semi-finals

It was an important week for Maltese futsal as four semi-finals were played in the men’s competitions, confirming the finalists of the Challenge League and delivering the first results from the Premier Final Four.

In the elite futsal semi-finals, University Futsal secured a 4-1 victory over Marsaskala in a match where the winners enjoyed the majority of possession.

Despite the scoreline, Marsaskala showed strong defensive organization and remained competitive throughout.

In the second semi-final, Luxol St Andrews completely dominated their clash against Birżebbuġa with an emphatic 11-1 win.

The reigning champions demonstrated their full strength and experience, sending a clear statement to their rivals.

The second legs of the semifinals will be played on Friday, and despite the first-leg results, everything is still open.

A win in regular time could force extra time or even penalties, keeping all ties alive.

In the Challenge League semi-finals, Malta Futsal U19 reached their first historic final after a commanding 11-0 victory over Sliema Fort Fitness Futsal.

Luke Urpani was the standout performer, scoring four goals in an excellent display.

In the other semi-final, Żejtun Corinthians defeated St Venera Lightnings 7-4 in an entertaining and goal-filled encounter.

As a result, the Challenge League final will be contested between Malta Futsal U19 and Żejtun Corinthians, in what promises to be an exciting showdown for Maltese futsal fans.
