Last Sunday’s continuous rainfall ended up in the postponement of the race programme with the consequence that during the coming weekend we will have a total of 27 races.
Saturday’s programme will get underway at noon with 13 races including the two Assikura Championship Finals for Gold and Bronze category horses.
These two races are scheduled to take off at 3:20pm and 4:25pm and will be over the 2,140m distance.
The other 11 races will be over the longer distance of 2640m including the Premier category race during which the winner will be presented with a token from the Tallinn racetrack in Estonia.
Sunday’s programme of 14 races is planned to start at 11:30 am and this includes the three semi-finals from the Executive Security Championship for Silver Category horses. These will be over the 2,140m distance just like the two friendship races to be disputed between drivers from Estonia and Malta.
These races are being organised with the collaboration and support of the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs as well as EquestriMalta to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Malta and Estonia.
A reciprocating invite for our drivers to Estonia is expected in August.
In a statement, EquestriMalta’s CEO Max Zammit said that these types of races serve to promote local equestrian sport internationally whilst they give an opportunity to the Maltese drivers to compete abroad.
He stated that whilst EquestriMalta is the regulatory body for local equestrian sports, it also believes that these type of events help to enhance the level of our sport.
All the other races on Sunday will be raced over the 2640m distance. A presentation will be held after the two friendship races.
