BOV Challenge League side Swieqi United have named a new coach in Steve D’Amato who has put pen to paper on a two-year deal.
D’Amato, whose role is the Head Coach of the Men’s Senior Squad, will bring plenty of experience as he will become the fifth coach to take over at The Owls since their inception in 2009.
During his coaching career, D’Amato has been in charge with several local clubs including Ħamrun Spartans, Tarxien Rainbows and Sirens.
“While thanking the club and committee for their trust in me, I look forward to the coming season and to reach Swieqi’s goals and ambitions,” D’Amato told the club’s official channels.
“In coach Steve D’Amato, we believe the leadership of the senior squad is in steady and experienced hands,” club president Dr Justin Fenech said.
“Working hand in hand with our Technical Director and coaching structure, coach D’Amato aims to refine the squad with a good blend of experience and young players – always leaving the door open for new youth players to break through if they prove they are ready”.
Last season, Swieqi finished eighth in the 11-team Challenge League – Group B with 24 points in 20 games.
