Luxol St Andrews will be facing two former winners of the UEFA Futsal Champions League when they launch their historic elite round campaign.
The Maltese representatives were drawn in Group C against Benfica of Portugal, Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan and Chrudim of Czech Republic.
The elite round of this competition will be played from November 22 to November 27, with Luxol St Andrews set to play their group games in Kazakhstan.
Both Benfica and Kairat Almaty are former winners of this competition.
The Kazakh have two triumphs to their name, in 2013 and 2015 and were also runners-up as recent as 2019.
Benfica, on their part, won this tournament in 2010 having lost the final way back in 2004.
The four group winners of this elite round will progress to the finals which are pencilled for May.
Last week, Luxol St Andrews became the first local club to reach this stage of this tournament.
They qualified in Group 3 after a large 5-1 win over Hovocubo of Netherlands and a 1-1 draw against Slovenia’s Dobovec.
Luxol St Andrews rubbed shoulders against reigning champions Barcelona as well as the Catalunya giants passed as group winners.
