Luxol St Andrews and Swieqi United shared the spoils in an exciting 3-3 scoreline in the most awaited match from the Enemed Futsal League.
The local champions had a positive first half, scoring three goals in the process. In the second half especially in the last six minutes, Swieqi went into aggressive mode, scored three goals, and also managed to salvage a point.
Marwan Telisi put St Andrews ahead with Mark Zammit and Celino Alves adding two more for the champions.
In the second half, Swieqi produced a fierce reaction and managed to restore parity in the last six minutes through their latest recruit Santiago Gutierrez, Dylan Pirotta, and keeper Brandon Debono.
University of Malta kept their good form of late as they saw off Malta U19 5-2.
Steven Camilleri, Aaron Montebello, Andre Cachia, Jean Noel Azzopardi, and Shataizan Zarb scored for the Students with Mason Agius and Collin Sammut on the mark for the Maltese youths.
Ta’ Xbiex returned to winning ways and joined Luxol and Swieqi on top as they beat Fgura 9-0. Dylan Musu was inspirational for Ta’ Xbiex as he netted a poker, Stefi Cale helped himself with a brace while Liam Caruana, Karl Sciortino, and an own-goal completed the score for the winners.
St George’s continued to impress during the season as they saw off Marsaskala 5-3.
It wasn’t an easy stroll for the Cottonera side who had to endure the Southsiders’ tenacity although in the end, they had the last laugh.
Karl Luke Schembri scored a brace while Jovica Milijic, Claudio Venuto, and Vuk Rankovic also put their names on the score sheet for St George’s.
Craig Pickard’s double and Amir Ashtyani replied for Marsaskala.
Żurrieq Futsal ensured a place in the Elite Round after registering a massive 12-1 scoreline against Malta Veterans.
Boycho Marev netted a poker, Jose Mario Mendes Fernandes scored a hat-trick and Kurt Darmanin hit the target twice.
Gabriel Ghigo, David de Ferreira Almeida, and Armando Gjepali completed the score for Żurrieq. Kevin Agius scored the only goal for the Maltese Veterans.
