The Marsa Racetrack hosted the 20th and the 21st meeting of the year between Friday and Sunday.
The most important race held on Friday evening was a class Premier race held on a long distance of 3140m.
Sunday’s card included four heats from the FEGAT European Ladies Championship on a short distance of 2140m. Malta was represented by Cherise Farrugia.
The championship was won by Farrugia with Dutch Hiltje Tlasma finishing second while German Julia Holzschuh took third place.
In the first international heat held on Sunday, Sharif America (Eszter Cseperke Takacs – Hungary) took its first win of the season after taking the lead midway through the distance.
Dutch Hiltje Tjalsma triumphed in the second international heat with Skogans Lotten after increasing its speed in the last 700 metres.
Global Barrister (Eva Lundahl – Sweden) registered its third win of the year after leading all the way in the third heat. Similar was the fourth and last heat with Diego Du Coudou (Cherise Farrugia) sealing its third win of the year after being unchallenged during the 2140m distance.
In the class Premier race held on Friday, French Iron de Ginai (Charles Degiorgio) sealed its fifth win of the season and the second in a row. Degiorgio’s trotter past the finishing post easily by two lengths from Elixir D’Anama (Herman McKay) and Abbys Wise As (Joseph Mercieca). Whothehillareyou (Tony Demanuele) followed home in that order.
Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held on Friday evening. The first race should start at 7pm.
