The Assikura Final for Gold Category horses was officially launched, ahead of the much-anticipated championship final scheduled for February 22.
Organised by the Malta Racing Club, this prestigious championship is one of the leading events in the first part of the year of the local trotting calendar.
This championship saw 60 horses participate at the qualifying stage. This final will bring together the top-performing Gold Category horses in what promises to be a highly competitive showdown.
Andrew Grech, Managing Director of Assikura Insurance Brokers, highlighted the company’s continued commitment to Maltese horse racing over the past years.
Assikura’s sponsorship has evolved into a strong partnership and supports Maltese racing with multiple events during the year.
Grech expressed confidence that this year’s final will showcase the highest standards of preparation, competitiveness and sporting excellence.
Malta Racing Club vice chairman Tony Demanuele reaffirmed the club’s commitment to delivering a fair and professionally organised event, while thanking Assikura for its continued investment in the sport. He also acknowledged the efforts of all owners to bring their horses to top form for this event.
Dr Matthew Brincat, CEO of Malta Equidrome, conveyed his appreciation to the sponsors and extended his best wishes to all participating owners and drivers, noting that the Assikura Final remains a key highlight of the national racing calendar.
He also promised continued investment in the sporting complex for an improved experience for horses and the public alike.
The February 22 final is expected to attract strong public interest as Malta’s leading Gold Category contenders compete for championship honours
