Four wins for Paul Galea
Driven by Paul Galea, Swedish Gold From Heaven won Sunday’s major event at the Marsa Racetrack.
This was the Assikura Championship final class Gold trotters held on a short distance of 2140 metres and formed part of the 7th meeting of the season consisting of ten races all for trotters. Galea also ended as the best driver of the day with four wins.
Eleven trotters lined up for the class Gold final.
There was a keen duel between the winner Gold From Heaven (Paul Galea), which increased its speed during the last 500 metres and Cruise (Noel Baldacchino) in the final straight of this final.
It was Gold From Heaven which secured its third win in a row with Hiant Du Val (Rodney Gatt) and Surf’N Turf (Charles Camilleri) followed home in that order. The winner clocked an average time of 1.14.1” per kilometre.
At the end of this final, Andrew Grech, Assikura Insurance Brokers Managing Director, presented the winning trophy to Galea and the owners of the winning horse, in the presence of Malta Racing Club vice-chairman Tony Demanuele and Malta Equidrome’s representative Dr Matthew Brincat.
It should be noted that last year, Paul Galea had also won the Assikura Championship final with Summerazz.
Sunday’s card included also a class Premier race on a mile distance.
Danish In My Way Damgard, also driven by Paul Galea, gained its second consecutive win and in Malta by a length and after increasing its speed in the final metres.
