Aurelien Cousin’s girls chalked up their third win in the competition to assure themselves of a top ten finish in the competition, their best-ever result in these championships.
Elena Borg was the star performer for Malta after netting six goals, while Chloe Amato bagged a hat-trick.
On Sunday, Malta will face Germany in the play-off for ninth place, with the match starting at 1pm.
The match turned out to be a hard-fought affair in the opening session, with both sides continuously trading blows.
After falling behind early on, Malta fought back, and two quick-fire goals from Amato and another from Borg earned the team a 3-2 lead.
The second session was bereft of goals with the Argentines managing to level the match at three-all when the ends were changed.
Malta stepped up a gear in the third session, and Elena Borg took centre stage with a fine hat-trick to push the team 6-4 ahead.
The final session saw the Argentines trying to claw their way into the match and managed to pull level at seven-all with just under three minutes to go.
But the Maltese girls refused to throw in the towel as goals from Borg and Chloe Amato, her second of the session, sealed a famous win.
