Emphatic wins for University of Malta and Marsaskala in Futsal Malta championships

The Futsal Malta championships resumed during the past weeks, with six matches played across the men’s and women’s leagues.

The men’s league match between Luxol St Andrews and Futsal Selection U19 was postponed due to circumstances beyond control.

Men’s League

In the men’s league, the University of Malta Students Futsal Team faced the Malta FA Futsal Selection U17, with the university side claiming a dominant 13–0 victory, confirming their status as one of the teams to watch this season.

Colombian player Cruz Guiterrez Roller Santiago and Argentine Fernandez Cristian Jose stood out, both scoring four goals each.

Marsaskala Futsal Legends also registered a 9-2 win against debutants Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal.

The Marsaskala side was already leading 6-1 by half-time, with Karl Luke Schembri netting four goals for his team.

In the final match of the second round, Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA fell to GŻR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal 2-11.

Colombian Diaz Montanez Cristian Camilo impressed with four goals for the winning side.

Women’s League

The women’s futsal league also kicked off this week.

St George’s Futsal started their campaign with a comfortable 9-1 win over Parr Mela Rockets Futsal, with Estefany Colemnarez shining for the Cottonera team by scoring four goals.

During the match, Paula Perdomo of Parr Mela was suspended following a disciplinary incident.

Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus claimed a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Swieqi United Futsal LECO7 in an intense game that was decided by half-time.

The first goal came in the 15th minute, an own goal by Spiteri and another by Rodanne Azzopardi few minutes later.

Last season’s Knock Out champions, Zero Sei Futsal, also began strongly with a 5-0 win over St Andrews Futsal. They took an early lead and were already up 3-0 by half-time, with five different players finding the net.

European challenge for Luxol St Andrews

This week will be especially important for Maltese futsal, Luxol St Andrews’ men’s team will be representing Malta in the UEFA Futsal Champions League,

Luxol will be competing in the Main Round – Group 3. All matches will take place at the University Sports Hall in Gżira, with free entry for spectators.

Luxol begin their campaign on Wednesday against Riga Futsal Club at 19:00, followed by a match against Loznica Grad Thursday at the same time.

Their final and toughest challenge comes on Friday, when they face Benfica at 19:00.

Other group fixtures include: Benfica vs Loznica Grad – October 29 at 16:30, Riga vs Benfica – October 30 at 16:30, Loznica Grad vs Riga – November 1 at 16:30. This is a unique opportunity for Maltese fans to support their team in a high-level European futsal competition.
