The opening week of the Futsal Malta League couldn’t have been more exciting, with four action-packed matches producing a total of 49 goals. #
Teams showed great form right from the start, with dominant performances and plenty of high-quality finishes.
Malta FA Futsal Selection vs Marsaskala Futsal Legends 0-7
Marsaskala Futsal Legends kicked off their campaign with a commanding 7-0 victory over the Malta FA Selection.
The team from Wied il-Għajn controlled the match from start to finish. Gia Nikvashvili grabbed a hat-trick while Liam Caruana netted a brace.
The other goalscorers for Marsascala came from Lozada Motta Miller Estiben and Milijic Jovica.
It was a strong performance from Marsascala that sends a clear message to the rest of the league.
University of Malta Students vs Malta FA Selection U-19 12-0
The University of Malta Students Futsal Team produced a dominant display, crushing the Malta FA U18 side 12-0.
Cleaven Portelli and Cristian Jose Fernandez stood out with four goals each, while Emil Andrei Andrei Raducu and Andres Felipe Aguilera Linares put their name on the scoresheet twice.
It was an impressive show of strength and coordination from the University of Malta that proves they will be among the top contenders this season.
Birżebbuġa St Peter’s vs Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness 7-0
Birżebbuġa St Peter’s continued the day’s trend of high-scoring victories with a convincing 7-0 win over Sliema Fort Fitness.
Lender Sebastian Lara Obando and Braham Garcia Espinosa scored two goals each with the other goals coming from Carlos Stiven Alarcon Rojas, Dylan Mintoff, and Cristian Camilo Diaz Montanez.
The Birżebbuġa side already looks to be in excellent early-season form.
Luxol St Andrews FC Futsal vs Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal 22-1
The highlight of the week was the clash between reigning champions Luxol St Andrews and debutants Santa Venera Lightnings, which ended in a big win for Luxol.
Almost every Luxol player found the net, with goals spread across the squad – Celino Alves De Freitas (4 goals) Luiz Henrique Negreiros Rosas Murad and Victor Oliveira Dias (3 goals each), Maicon Da Silva Gaiewski, Luke Gatt, Anderson Sant’ Anna Coriolano Le, and Michael Borg (2 goals each), Rodrigo Rocha, Aiden Buhagiar, and Castro Pulido (1 each).
For Santa Venera, Colombian player Alejandro Vargas scored the team’s only goal.
It was a dominant victory that confirms Luxol’s status as early favourites for the title.
