Paola Executive Security are the winners of the Marindex Christmas Volleyball tournament after managing a perfect record in the quadrangular event that was played at the Corradino Sports Pavilion in the past week.
Four teams took part in the tournament, namely Paola Executive Security, Paola Yes2Health Fitness Club, Birkirkara, and Mġarr.
On the opening day of competition, Paola Executive Security had the better of Paola Yes2Health Fitness 3-0 while Birkirkara saw off Mġarr 3-1 for their first win in the competition.
Paola Executive Security were up against Birkirkara in the much-awaited match in the tournament and the hosts secured an impressive 3-1 win that put them firmly on their way.
In the other match played on Saturday, Mġarr eased past Paola Yes2Health Fitness 3-0 for their first win in the tournament.
The tournament reached a decisive stage on Sunday with the final two matches.
Paola Yes2Health Fitness Club were beaten by Birkirkara 3-1 as the latter put pressure on Paola Executive Security ahead of their final match.
But the Paola girls kept their poise as they dominated the match against Mġarr to secure a convincing 3-0 that secured the title.
Paola Executive Security topped the overall standings with maximum points after three matches.
In a statement, Dr Kenneth Vella, president of Paola Executive Security, showed his gratitude towards the tournament sponsors for their support as well as the participating clubs for accepting the invite to take part in the event.
He also showed his appreciation towards club sponsors Executive Security Services, Izibet, Dragonara Casino and Brasserie, Maypole, De Paola Pharmacy, and Yes2Health Fitness Club.
