Falcons draw first blood in National Cup final with win over Paola

Falcons took the honours in Game One of the National Cup final after overcoming Paola Executive Security 3-0 in Sunday’s match at the Cottonera Sports Complex.

The Falcons side were in control right from the outset and took the opening set 25-17.

The Paola side struggled to get back into the match and Falcons went on to take the next two sets 25-11 and 25-18 to complete a 3-0 victory.

Falcons will be looking to put one hand on the trophy when they face Paola in the second match from the final series next Saturday at the Cottonera SC, starting at 5pm.

Should Paola manage to level the series on Saturday, they will force a decisive third match that is pencilled for the following day, on Sunday at 3pm.

In the first division, Paola Yes2Health Fitness beat Birkirkara Reds 3-1.

RESULTS

U17 League: Falcons vs Swieqi Phoenix Challengers 3-1; BKVC Storms vs BKVC Lightnings 3-1; Depiro vs BKVC Thunder Spikes 3-0; Flyers vs Paola Maypole 0-3.

National Cup Final (Game 1): Falcons vs Paola 3-0.

First Division; Paola Yes2Health Fitness vs BKVC Reds  3-1
