Young Maltese player Dielyn Edwards has advanced to the quarter-finals of the individual competition at the European Blackball Championships, currently taking place in Ennis, Ireland.
Edwards produced dominant performances in his two matches, defeating Nick Muscat and Riley Morton with identical 5-0 scorelines.
Edwards is now set to return to action in two days, where he will face Darragh Gallagher for a place in the semi-finals.
In the team categories, there were more positive results for Malta.
The Men’s A Team secured a convincing 17-8 victory over Ireland, while the Men’s B Team beat Wales B1 by 15-10. The Seniors Team also claimed a hard-fought 13–12 win, again over Ireland.
Meanwhile, the Under-23 Team defeated Wales 16–9, and the Under-15 Team achieved a 10–5 victory against Wales before suffering a 9–6 defeat to Ireland A.
