Another exciting matchweek in the FMA Enemed Futsal League delivered goals and drama, including the first defeat of league leaders University of Malta Futsal, who were beaten by Luxol St Andrews Futsal in a highly-competitive encounter.
GŻR Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal recorded an emphatic 9-2 win over Futsal Selection U17, a match that was virtually settled by half-time with Birżebbuġa already leading 7-0.
Meanwhile, Futsal Selection U19 secured a crucial 5-1 victory against Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness, a result that lifted them to six points and above their opponents in the standings.
A dominant display also came from Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA, who defeated Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal 12-2.
Abuaisha Nezar Fawzi was the standout performer, scoring an impressive six goals and helping Żejtun maintain their place inside the top five.
In the standout fixture of the round, Luxol St. Andrews Futsal ended the unbeaten run of reigning champions University of Malta Futsal with a 5-3 victory.
University of Malta opened the scoring through Elmari Mohamed Abdussalam, before Negreiros Rosas Murad Luiz Henrique equalised for Luxol.
Cruz Gutiérrez Roller Santiago restored the lead for the students, with Raducu Emil Andrei extending it shortly after.
However, Sant’Anna Coriolano Leanderson pulled one back to make it 3-2 at half-time.
Luxol came out stronger in the second half, as Da Silva Gaiewski Maicon brought the scores level and Sant’Anna Coriolano Leanderson put Luxol ahead for the first time.
In the dying seconds, Maicon sealed the win with a goal into an empty net as University of Malta pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
